Massive Blaze Hits Shanklin: Fire Crews Rush to Scene
Firefighters from Shanklin, Ryde, Ventnor, and Newport battled a fierce blaze in Shanklin today. Thick black smoke was seen billowing for miles, causing major disruption.
Road Closures and Bus Delays
A full closure is in place on 1 Park Road, Shanklin, impacting all drivers. Buses on Route 3 are running a revised timetable between Arthur’s Hill, Atherley Road, and Shanklin Rail Station in both directions.
Blaze Started in Outhouses, Spread to Trees
Emergency services say the fire began in several outhouses before spreading to nearby trees near Wilton Park Road. Two sheds and a tree line have been engulfed in flames.
