Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters swarmed a Putney block after reports of a loud explosion at a ground-floor flat on Toland Square.
Flat Devastated, Residents Evacuated
The blast damaged most of the three-room flat in the three-storey building. Two women managed to escape before firefighters arrived. Both were treated on scene by London Ambulance crews, with one rushed to hospital.
Nearby residents were evacuated as a safety precaution while emergency teams worked.
Gas Supply Suspected Cause
The fire brigade was called at 2:11pm, with the incident wrapped up by 3:15pm. Fire crews from Wandsworth and Richmond stations tackled the scene. Authorities believe the explosion involved a gas supply, though investigations continue.
