Four Terraced Homes Ablaze Near London City Airport in North Woolwich
Blaze Tears Through Multiple Houses
Four terraced houses on Lord Street, North Woolwich, went up in flames just after 2.15pm today (December 15). One property is ravaged with fire on half of its ground floor and part of the first floor. Flames also engulf parts of two neighbouring homes, spreading fast and leaving thick smoke choking the area.
Firefighters Launch Massive Operation
The London Fire Brigade was bombarded with about 18 emergency calls. They scrambled ten fire engines and around 60 firefighters to the scene. Crews are battling the fierce inferno to stop it from spreading further.
Smoke Warning for Local Residents
Nearby locals have been urged to keep all windows and doors firmly shut to avoid smoke inhalation. Visibility is down on nearby roads as thick smoke blankets the area.
The cause of the devastating fire remains unknown. Firefighters remain on site working tirelessly to bring the blaze under control.
