Air Ambulance Scrambles to Isle of Sheppey Crash
The Kent Surrey Sussex air ambulance rushed to a serious collision on the Isle of Sheppey this afternoon. A car and van collided near the A249 and the rugby club on Lower Road just before 6pm on Wednesday.
One Trapped and Freed by Firefighters
Emergency services, including police and firefighters, responded swiftly. One person was trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut free using specialist equipment. The life-saving air ambulance touched down on a nearby green to airlift a driver with serious injuries to a London hospital.
Major Traffic Chaos Hits the Island
Traffic on the island has come to a crawl, with delays of up to 90 minutes reported. The situation worsened with two further collisions near Morrison Neats Court, causing even more hold-ups.
Police have partially closed the road, allowing only one side to remain open while waiting for recovery teams. As of 8.20pm, recovery contractors arrived to clear the two damaged vehicles. Traffic has been stopped temporarily to ensure safe removal.
