London Ambulance Service Overwhelmed as Call Volume Soars
Call Handlers Swamped with Nearly 400 Calls an Hour
The London Ambulance Service is in meltdown today, struggling to answer almost 400 calls every hour. Officials have urged the public to only dial 999 in a genuine emergency. Their priority is clear: get help to those with life-threatening injuries and illnesses first.
Warning from the Frontline
A London Ambulance spokesperson said, “We’re really busy and our staff are working so hard to get to the most seriously ill and injured patients. Please ONLY call 999 in an emergency.”
They added: “If you’re unwell or have a medical question or concern, but it’s not an emergency, go directly to NHS 111.”
What You Need to Know
- 999 is for life-threatening emergencies only.
- For non-urgent medical issues, contact NHS 111 instead.
- Help the ambulance service focus on the most critical cases.
