Massive Multi-Car Pile-Up Closes M4

Wiltshire Police rushed to the scene of a huge 13-vehicle crash on the M4 this afternoon. The smash near Membury Services forced the closure of both lanes between junction 14 and the services, snarling traffic for hours.

Emergency Services Act Fast

The pile-up unfolded at around 3:15pm on March 23. Firefighters used cutting gear to free one trapped driver, while paramedics treated three patients. Thankfully, none were seriously hurt. An air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene as a precaution.

Road Reopens After Long Delays

By 5:30pm the eastbound carriageway was back open and one westbound lane was cleared for traffic. Police thanked all emergency crews for their quick and expert response.

Warning to Drivers

Officials urged motorists to stick to speed limits and be extra careful in poor weather or congested areas to avoid further wrecks.
