Huge Blaze at Ashford Commercial Unit Tamed After Overnight Battle
Firefighters made serious headway overnight tackling a massive fire at a commercial property near Charing, Ashford on Saturday, 3 May 2025.
Ten Fire Engines and Special Foam Tech Deployed
Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene on Hurstford Lane at 5:41pm after receiving reports of a large blaze. At peak effort, 10 fire engines and two bulk water carriers battled the inferno.
Crews wore breathing apparatus and fought the flames with powerful main jets, high-pressure hose reels, and a cutting-edge compressed air foam system (CAFS) to bring the fire under control.
Partner Agencies Pitch In as Smoke Advisories Issued
Support rolled in from UK Power Networks, the Environment Agency, plus KFRS’s Volunteer Response Team who assisted with both operations and crew welfare.
Nearby residents and travellers were initially warned to keep windows and doors shut thanks to heavy smoke intake. Thankfully, by 7am the next morning (4 May), officials lifted all smoke advisories after crews gained control.
Firefighters Hold Fort, Investigation to Follow
Currently, three fire engines remain on site damping down hotspots to avoid flare-ups. No injuries have been reported in this dramatic incident.
Authorities will begin probing the fire’s cause once the area is safe and secured. Residents are urged to stay in the loop and help spread the word to those without internet access.
