Blaze Destroys Workshop in Barking
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to a massive fire at an open-air storage facility and workshop on Ripple Road in the early hours today. The inferno erupted at about 4:06am, completely destroying the workshop and leaving minor damage on the nearby warehouse’s fascia. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Quick-Thinking Passer-By Sparks Rapid Response
A alert passer-by spotted smoke and flames billowing from the property and immediately dialled 999. This prompted six emergency calls to the 123, officers confirmed the fire was accidental, sparked by an electrical fault within the workshop.
Fire Brigade Praises Public Vigilance
“The quick actions of the passer-by to alert us to the fire ensured our crews were able to respond swiftly and prevent further spread to adjacent properties,” a London Fire Brigade spokesperson said.
The blaze triggered significant disruption across the area, with thick smoke and a heavy emergency presence early this morning. Local businesses and residents have been reassured the situation is now fully under control.
Attic Storage confirmed the fire caused only superficial damage to the building’s exterior, and construction work on-site is ongoing.
