Massive Crane Operation Hauls Lorry from A31 Gutter in New Forest

Two giant cranes pulled an articulated lorry from a roadside gutter in a dramatic three-hour recovery on the A31 overnight – a scene that caused chaos on one of the New Forest’s busiest roads.

A31 Shutdown Delays Recovery

The A31 was shut down yesterday morning after a crash, but the lorry recovery had to be pushed back 24 hours due to heavy traffic. Specialists from RD Avery worked through the night to make the area safe and get the road reopened for Monday morning’s rush hour.

Collision Sparks Emergency Response

Emergency services were called just after 3am following a collision between a car and the LGV. The crash left the lorry teetering in a verge eastbound between Ringwood and Cadnam, near Bratley Arch.

Fresh Food Cargo Threatened

The vehicle was loaded with tonnes of fresh fruit and veg, including bananas and carrots, adding to the urgency of the recovery effort as crews scrambled to clear the mess and reopen the critical route.
