Man taken to hospital following Folkestone kitchen fire

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have dealt with a kitchen fire in a third-floor flat in Bayle Street, Folkestone this evening. Crews used a high-pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. One man was rescued from the property by firefighters and has been taken to hospital by paramedics for a precautionary check after suffering the effects of breathing in smoke. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
