Body Found in Hunt for Missing Newham Man
Police searching for 34-year-old Marius Aionesi, reported missing from Silvertown/Canning Town, have discovered a body in the Royal Docks.
Last Seen in Newham
Marius was last spotted around 6pm on Saturday, 27 March. His family raised the alarm the following day, sparking an urgent missing person investigation.
Divers Recover Body Near Last Known Location
On Tuesday afternoon, 13 April, police divers searching near Marius’ last known whereabouts in the Royal Docks found a body. While formal ID is pending, detectives are confident it is Marius.
No Suspicious Circumstances
Detective Sergeant David Doig said: “This is clearly not the outcome any of us would have wanted. Our thoughts are with Marius’ family and friends as they come to terms with this loss.”
He added: “Thank you to everyone in the local community who supported the investigation by sharing our appeal for information.”
There is currently no evidence of third-party involvement. Marius’ death is being treated as non-suspicious but unexplained. A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the cause of death.
