Heat-Seeking Helicopter Finds Missing Six-Year-Old on M1 Roadworks

After an intense eight-hour search, police have found missing six-year-old Aadil Umair Rahim safe and sound. A heat-seeking police helicopter spotted the boy just after 3.20am on Saturday, sitting alone in a coned-off section of roadworks on the M1, half a mile from Newport Pagnell services.

Lost on School Trip: Boy Wanders from Service Station

Aadil vanished around 7.15pm on Friday from the northbound Newport Pagnell services while on a school trip. The young boy had wandered off the service area, sparking a massive search operation involving officers and local volunteers. The helicopter’s thermal camera pinpointed a heat source resembling a small person, leading rescuers straight to him.

Found Cold but Unharmed – Wrapped in Foil Blanket

Search teams found Aadil sitting on a box, wearing just a jumper against the chilly early morning weather. They quickly wrapped him in a silver foil blanket and rushed him to his anxious parents, who had travelled from Nottingham to be with him. Police whisked him off in a patrol car for medical checks after paramedics assessed him at the scene.

Police Praise Public and Rescue Teams After Successful Operation

Superintendent Amy Clements said: “This was a very difficult operation involving a very young boy and we are relieved to say that Aadil has been found safe and well.”

“I’d like to thank the local community and all those who offered their assistance during the search. Our gratitude also goes to the National Police Air Service and the numerous officers and volunteers involved in this operation.”

Despite the high-risk nature of the case, police have not commented on whether any offences were committed. Thames Valley Police confirmed the boy’s safe recovery and thanked everyone who helped bring this tense search to a happy end.
