Accountancy Tutor’s Stroke Shocks Family – Now Daughters Take On Charity Challenge
Sally Antrobus, 45, an accountancy tutor, suffered a stroke last December that left the left side of her body paralysed. After two weeks in Derriford Hospital, she was moved to Mount Gould Hospital for rehabilitation.
Miraculously, on 3rd March, Sally returned home to continue her recovery.
Daughters Rally for Mum’s Recovery with Charity Cycle
Molly, 18, a plymouth/" title="Plymouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Plymouth College student, said: “My mum has always been so fit and healthy – this came as a complete shock to us all. She suffered a dissection of the carotid artery complicated by a clot.”
“Mum underwent an extremely risky operation that saved her life. She is now doing intense physio to regain movement on her left side. Her progress has been incredible and she’s been a real inspiration to everyone.
“We’re all very excited to have her back home after such an emotional few months.”
Her younger sister Lucy, 15, added: “Strokes never crossed our minds as something that could happen to our family. Now we know strokes can strike anyone, at any age.”
45-Mile Cycle Ride Raises Over £12,000 for the Stroke Association
Determined to make a difference, Molly and Lucy are cycling 45 miles over ten days to raise funds for the Stroke Association.
“We hoped to raise £10,000 but have already smashed that with over £12,000 raised!” said Lucy. “We’re so grateful to everyone who has donated, and to the family and friends joining us on the ride.”
Charlotte Lee, a Stroke Association fundraiser, praised their efforts: “Stroke survivors face huge challenges. Molly and Lucy’s incredible fundraising will help fund vital research and support for survivors and their families.
“A stroke can happen to anyone, turning lives upside down. Thanks to people like Molly and Lucy, we can help more survivors rebuild their lives.”
