£1,000 Stolen in Lewes Distraction Burglary

Police are hunting two crafty scammers who swiped £1,000 from an 89-year-old man in Lewes.

Fake Council Workers Target Elderly Victim

At 1pm on 4 March, two men knocked on the victim’s door in Queens Road, claiming they were council workers fixing damp. The elderly man let them inside to ‘inspect’ the property.

Once they left, the victim realised £1,000 in cash had vanished.

Suspects Spotted – Have You Seen Them?

  • Both white males, about 5’8” tall, speaking with Irish accents
  • Suspect one: dark curly hair, dark clothes and shoes, carrying a tablet
  • Suspect two: lighter hair, wearing a dirty short-sleeve high-vis jacket with lettering on the back

Police have released a photo of suspect two and urge anyone with info to come forward.
