Two Luxury Homes Torched in Bromley – Police Suspect Arson
Police and fire investigators in Bromley have launched a joint arson probe after two luxury houses went up in flames within 24 hours. Both homes, valued over £1.5 million each, are believed to have been deliberately set on fire.
White House and Orchard Road Targeted
The first fire hit “The White House,” a £1.6m property on Plaistow Road, around 4am on Sunday, October 27. Less than a day later, another blaze broke out at a £1.8m house on Orchard Road at roughly 10pm the same night.
Firefighters responded quickly to both, using a 32-metre turntable ladder to tackle the Plaistow Road fire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The first floor of the Plaistow Road property was destroyed, with half the ground floor damaged.
Police Treat Fires as Linked Arson Attacks
A police source said, “The proximity in time and location makes us suspect these are connected incidents. We urge anyone who saw suspicious activity near Plaistow Road or Orchard Road early Sunday and Monday to come forward.”
Fire experts are hunting for traces of accelerants or other signs the fires were started on purpose. Detectives are also investigating if the two homes are linked, or if these attacks are part of a bigger arson spree targeting Bromley’s posh properties.
Community on Edge – Police Appeal for Clues
The Bromley community is shocked by the targeted attacks on these well-known and highly valued homes. Locals are advised to stay alert and report anything unusual.
Police have urged residents with information or CCTV footage to contact Bromley Police on 101 or message @MetCC on X with reference numbers 1620/27OCT (Plaistow Road fire) or 7706/27OCT (Orchard Road fire). Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
