Burglaries Bungle: Police Hunt Hooded Thieves After Trio of Petrol Station Raids
Hampshire police are cracking down on a spate of attempted burglaries at petrol stations and a shop in Fareham and Lee-on-the-Solent. The break-ins happened overnight between Thursday, July 19, and early morning Friday, July 20.
CCTV Snaps Suspect After Co-op Break-In Attempt
At 4:36am on Friday, officers were alerted to a smashed panel on the door of the Co-op store in Fareham. Despite the damage, the culprits got no further inside and nothing was stolen. A suspicious man was spotted nearby, described as white, 5ft 8ins, wearing a grey hoodie, dark tracksuit bottoms, and covering his face.
Two Men Target Petrol Stations but Come Up Empty-Handed
Later that morning at 6:16am, an attempt was made to force open a door and smash a window at the BP station in Lee-on-the-Solent. No entry was gained and no goods were taken. Two men acting suspiciously were seen in the area:
- One in a grey hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms, face covered.
- The other in a dark hoodie with writing on the front, three-quarter-length dark trousers, and dark shoes.
At 6:53am, the Shell Garage in Fareham was targeted next. Again, no cash or stock was taken despite forced shutters. Two men were spotted:
- The familiar grey hoodie suspect, dark tracksuit bottoms and black trainers (pictured).
- A second man in a black hooded top with a white motif, dark three-quarter trousers, and dark boots.
