Double M40 Horror: Two Separate Crashes Rock Northbound Carriageway
Chaos struck the M40 between junctions 12 and 13 near Leamington Spa late Monday night with not one, but two serious crashes involving multiple vehicles.
First Crash: HGV Driver Seriously Hurt
West Midlands Ambulance Service rushed to the scene at 11:05pm after reports of a multi-vehicle collision. Two paramedic officers, four ambulances, and a critical care team from the Air Ambulance Service were deployed.
A spokesperson revealed: “Crews found one male HGV driver with serious injuries. Fire crews helped extricate him safely while trauma care was provided on-site.”
The injured driver was rushed on blue lights to University Hospital coventry/" title="Coventry" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Coventry and Warwickshire. The driver of a second HGV and a car managed to get out but suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to Warwick Hospital. The third HGV driver was discharged at the scene.
Second Crash: Tragic Fatality After Midnight
Just after midnight, at 12:25am, emergency services faced a second collision on the same stretch of road, near Warwick Services. South Central Ambulance Service joined the West Midlands team for this incident.
Shockingly, the male driver of one HGV was pronounced dead at the scene. The second HGV driver suffered minor injuries—described as ‘walking wounded’—and was taken to Warwick Hospital.
A car driver involved sustained minor injuries and was treated and discharged on site by SCAS staff.
