Mayday Panic Sparks Major Search Off Isle of Wight
A frantic search was launched late Saturday night after a “Mayday” distress call crackled through the VHF marine radio system. Cowes lifeboat crews, Isle of Wight Coastguard teams, and the Cowes Harbourmaster scrambled into action, responding to the emergency just after 11pm.
Chasing Leads: Sailor in Trouble or False Alarm?
Reports suggest the call may have come from a sailor spotted nearby, possibly under the influence. Coastguards are combing the area from Island Harbour down to Newport Quay, scouring both land and sea in a desperate bid to find the missing person.
Search Still On – No Sign of Distress Caller Yet
Despite the massive effort, rescuers have yet to locate anyone connected to the call. Authorities urge anyone with information to step forward immediately and contact the Coastguard.
