Shoreham RNLI Lifeboats Launch Three Times in Nine Hours Amid Water Drama
Man Seen Entering Water at Brighton’s West Pier
Shoreham RNLI lifeboats launched three times in just nine hours over Saturday afternoon and early Sunday. The first call came when a man was spotted entering the water fully clothed near Brighton’s West Pier. Lifeboat crew carried out a search but found the man safe and sound onshore, already being looked after by ambulance crews.
Broken-Down Yacht Drama in Shoreham Harbour
Just 90 minutes later, the all-weather lifeboat sprang into action following reports of a broken-down 34ft yacht off Brighton. The yacht, however, had already limped into Shoreham Harbour. A local fishing boat towed it through the harbour locks while the lifeboat kept watch until the vessel was safely berthed.
Late-Night Rescue Near Worthing Pier
Shortly after midnight on Sunday, the inshore lifeboat was scrambled to a man reportedly entering the water 100 metres east of Worthing Pier. Fortunately, the man left the water before the lifeboat arrived and was in the care of Sussex Police and ambulance crews. The mission was stood down en route.
