Blaze Erupts at Sydenham Industrial Units
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to a fire at industrial units on Bell Green Lane, Sydenham. The inferno tore through a mid-terraced carpentry workshop, causing significant damage.
Dangerous Gas Cylinders Cooled to Stop Explosions
Fire crews acted fast, cooling seven cylinders containing gas and adhesive to prevent any deadly explosions. “Some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat,” officials warned. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Firefighters Battle Flames into the Early Hours
The emergency call came in at 11.35pm. Firefighters from Forest Hill, Beckenham, Lewisham, Bromley, and West Norwood stations battled the blaze until it was fully extinguished by 1.15am.
Accidental Fire Linked to Ventilation System Fault
Investigators believe the fire was accidental, sparked by the building’s ventilation system. Authorities continue to assess the damage at the scene.
