Blaze Rips Through Sydenham Carpentry Workshop
Chaos erupted on Bell Green Lane, Sydenham, as six fire engines and about 40 firefighters tackled a fierce blaze late last night.
Gas Cylinders Pose Huge Explosion Risk
The fire gutted a mid-terraced carpentry workshop inside an industrial unit. Fire crews acted fast, cooling and safely removing seven gas and adhesive cylinders to prevent a dangerous explosion. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Firefighters From Five Stations Join Forces
- The alarm was raised at 11:35 p.m.
- Fire was completely extinguished by 1:15 a.m.
- Firefighters from Forest Hill, Beckenham, Lewisham, Bromley, and West Norwood pitched in to control the blaze.
Accidental Fire Sparks Fears Over Ventilation Systems
Early investigations suggest the fire started accidentally, likely linked to the building’s ventilation system. The full cause is still being probed.
