Chaos erupted on Bell Green Lane, Sydenham, as six fire engines and about 40 firefighters tackled a fierce blaze late last night.

Gas Cylinders Pose Huge Explosion Risk

The fire gutted a mid-terraced carpentry workshop inside an industrial unit. Fire crews acted fast, cooling and safely removing seven gas and adhesive cylinders to prevent a dangerous explosion. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

Firefighters From Five Stations Join Forces

  • The alarm was raised at 11:35 p.m.
  • Fire was completely extinguished by 1:15 a.m.
  • Firefighters from Forest Hill, Beckenham, Lewisham, Bromley, and West Norwood pitched in to control the blaze.
