Water Crisis Hits Thanet and Tunbridge Wells

Residents in Thanet and Tunbridge Wells woke up to a major water disruption today. Low water pressure and total loss of supply hit areas including Broadstairs, Manston, Margate, and Ramsgate.

Burst Pipe Blamed for Chaos

Southern Water revealed that a significant burst at the Rumfields Water Supply Reservoir early this morning caused the widespread outage. The company is scrambling to fix the issue, currently excavating the damaged site.

“We understand how inconvenient and upsetting it can be to be without water. Unfortunately, we cannot yet say when supplies will return to normal,” Southern Water said.

Emergency Measures Underway

  • Bottled water is already being delivered to households on the Priority Services Register.
  • Additional bottled water stations for the wider community will be announced soon.
  • Water tankers are supplying critical locations like care homes and GP surgeries.

Southern Water is working closely with emergency services to tackle the crisis. Residents should keep an eye on their website and social media for real-time updates.
