Water Woes Hit 20,000 Homes in St Leonards-on-Sea
More than 20,000 properties in St Leonards-on-Sea and Hastings have been hit by a major water supply disruption. While water is slowly coming back this morning, some areas are still left high and dry.
Southern Water Battles to Restore Supply
Southern Water confirmed supplies have been restored to many homes across St Leonards-on-Sea, Hastings, and nearby northern districts. However, pockets including Belmont, Forest Way, Newgate South, and St Helen’s Wood still face shortages or patchy water supply.
To tackle the crisis, Southern Water has dispatched a fleet of tankers pumping water directly into the network. They’re also providing updates on affected zones through their website and social media channels.
Cloudy, Discoloured Water? Here’s Why
As water returns, some residents may notice murky or discoloured taps. This is usually harmless, caused by air bubbles or iron in the pipes. Running the kitchen tap until the water clears should fix this.
Help on Hand and Apologies Issued
Bottled water stations are open daily from 8am to 9pm. Deliveries continue for vulnerable customers until all supplies are back to normal. Southern Water apologises for the disruption, especially over the busy bank holiday weekend, and promises regular updates until the crisis is fully resolved.
