Wightlink Ferry Incident Causes Afternoon Delays

A ferry mishap has caused some disruption to services this afternoon, Wightlink has confirmed.

Passengers Safe but Shaken

Wightlink revealed there were 16 crew members and 431 passengers onboard during the incident. “While some are undoubtedly shaken, there are no reports of any serious injuries,” the company said.

Vehicles on board disembarked safely at Fishbourne, and the ferry Victoria of Wight has since returned to Portsmouth for inspection after sustaining damage to its prow.

Support and Shuttle Services in Place

Wightlink announced they will be contacting all customers onboard the 1 pm ferry crossing to “offer support.” The damaged vessel has been withdrawn from service, but other ferries are running a shuttle service to minimise delays.

Customers are advised to check in as usual despite the disruption.
