Sunak Pins Gaza Hospital Blast on Gaza-Based Missile
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak dropped a bombshell in the Commons, claiming British intelligence points to a missile launched from inside Gaza as the cause of the Al-Ahli hospital explosion. The devastating blast, initially blamed on Israel by Hamas-controlled Palestinian authorities, might actually be linked to a misfire from Palestinian Islamic Jihad rockets, Sunak revealed.
Israel had already accused Islamic Jihad, but the militant group flatly denied any role. Sunak’s statement exposes a tangled web of blame amid rising regional tensions.
Sunak Warns of Dangerous Diplomatic Fallout
Sunak urged caution and learning from the chaotic aftermath. “The misreporting had negative repercussions,” he said, highlighting how false claims damaged crucial US diplomatic efforts and heated up tensions at home.
He called for a steady diplomatic approach, investing in regional stability, and pushing the two-state solution. Yet, Sunak was clear: there can be “no scenario” where Hamas is allowed to carry on unchecked.
Global Talks, Regional Reality
Rishi revealed high-level talks with world leaders to avoid further chaos. He painted the October 7 attacks as Hamas’ desperate response to shifting Middle East dynamics — possibly linked to Arab states warming relations with Israel.
Drawing an analogy with Putin’s war on Ukraine, Sunak said: “Putin fears Ukraine’s Western democracy and seeks to drag it back to an imperialist fantasy.” He warned similar dark ambitions fuel Hamas.
“Both Putin and Hamas will ultimately fail. Hope in humanity must prevail against terrorism,” Sunak declared.
