HMS Sultan Plays Host to Young Engineers Challenge 2016

HMS Sultan, Gosport played host to youngsters from across UK as they took part in the Royal Navy University Training College Young Engineers Challenge – Operation Antarctica 2016. A total of 40 teams competed in the Challenge With several of the teams taking part even enjoying the opportunity to experience a night onboard HMS Bristol. [tubentertain vid=”Kf54Z8xJVcI” autoplay=”0″] Themed around the Royal Navy’s role of providing disaster relief, the students were tasked with designing a boat capable of negotiating dangerous ice flows and retrieving lost supplies from a mission zone in the Antarctic. The event fell on the eve of British Science Week, 11 – 20 March it was a great way to get everyone involved and give them a chance to demonstrate how organisations such as the Royal Navy, UTC, Young Engineers and BAE Systems across the engineering industry are encouraging young people into STEM careers.
