Driver makes lucky escape after car careers through railing at Hospital
Fire crew rushed to QA Hospital in Portsmouth this morning after reports of a vehicle leaving the road. The driver of the Silver car lost control after hitting the curb, smashing into railing and driving down a set of stairs in the North Car Park within the Hospital grounds. One hospital worker who did not wished to be named said ” The woman reversed into someone than panicking distressed driver put the vehicle it into drive and went straight through the barrier and down the stairs” Two Crews stationed at Cosham responded to the call just after 11am this morning. It is believed that the Silver Mercedes Coupe was attempting to leave the car park at QA hospital when the driver of the automatic car hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. This was aftermath of the mistake. The driver of the vehicle was unhurt. Fire crews made the scene safe. The vehicle is now being recovered by specialist from Boarhunt. The Stairs remain sealed off with safety barriers.
