Police appeal for Cameraphone Man who took Images of OAP Attack In Gosport

Police investigating a serious assault in Gosport on Sunday (September 25) and keen to track down a witness who could help to progress their enquiries. A 69 year-old man hit his head on the road following a dispute on the one-way system on Bury Road at around 5:50pm. He was with his wife who was in a wheelchair, when he had an altercation with another man who had been on a bicycle and who cycled off towards Stoke Road Having spoken to other witnesses Police now believe that a member of the public, whom they have not yet spoken to, may have taken photos on their mobile phone around the time of the assault. A number of motorists who may have driven past at the time have also not yet contacted us. The injured man remains at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham where he is being treated for a serious head injury. A 28 year-old local man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent remains in custody at the current time
