Traffic chaos on Mile End Roundabout after collision

Traffic  is at standstill following a collision in Portsmouth. A DPD delivery van collided with three sets of traffic lights on the busy Mile End road roundabout just after 10.30am this morning. Police and emergency services and council contractors attended and a massive clean up and recovery operation is in progress to remove the van from the centre of the roundabout. He was taken away by ambulance to the QA hospital in Cosham. Council contractors Colas have started to remove damaged lights and recovery specialists from Boarhunt have winced the van from the middle of the roundabout.  Two lanes of the roundabout remain closed and will do overnight. Barriers have been moved into place. It is thought that the repair bill will run into thousands and will take many weeks to be completed. Update: Traffic lights have been restored following the clean up operation but drivers coming out of Portsmouth are unable to access Church Street from the Roundabout Diversion is via Mile End Road-Rudmore Roundabout. https:///youtu.be/AW8w4E1eulA
