Police Launch Murder Probe After Man Found Dead in Fareham Flat

Hampshire police have launched a murder investigation after the body of 29-year-old Michael Deary was found at his flat on Omaha Close, Fareham.

Michael was discovered with injuries to his back following a welfare check just before 12:40pm on Monday, August 20. Formal identification has been completed and officers have now publicly named him.

Last Seen in Fareham with Mystery Couple

The last confirmed sighting of Michael was between midday and 1pm on Friday, August 17. He was seen walking towards Redlands Lane with a man and a young woman, both believed to be known to him.

Police are desperate to track down these two individuals and urge anyone who saw Michael return home or had contact with him in the days before his death to come forward.

Family Supported as Police Urge Community to Help

Specialist officers have informed Michael’s family and are offering them support. A photo of Michael has been released to help jog memories.

“Does this photograph of Michael jog your memory? Did you see him on Friday or over the weekend? Even if you saw him earlier in the week, this could provide vital leads,” Fareham District Commander Chief Inspector Sharon Woolrich said.

“I urge anyone with information to contact us immediately. Residents with concerns can speak to our Neighbourhood Policing Team who are patrolling the area.”
