Jealous Ex-Stalker Jailed for Brutal New Year’s Eve Assault in Ealing
Constantin Nantu, 35, has been locked up for 10 years after stalking and savagely attacking a woman in Ealing. The no-fixed-address thug was found guilty of grievous bodily harm and harassment at Isleworth Crown Court on Thursday, 21 March.
Vicious Attack Caught on Gorst Road
On the evening of 1 January, Nantu lay in wait behind a parked car on Gorst Road, NW10. As the woman, in her 30s, walked past while on her phone, he launched a brutal assault. Punching her repeatedly on the back of the head, he knocked her to the ground and continued the relentless attack as she tried to flee.
The victim was discovered by passersby with severe bruising and cuts to her eyes, elbows, and knees. So serious were her injuries; police initially treated the scene like a hit-and-run accident. She was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital with rib pain and has since been discharged.
Jealousy and Rage Behind the Attack
Judge Curtis-Raleigh slammed the assault as a “cowardly and despicable premeditated attack” fueled by jealousy and rage. Police investigations revealed Nantu had repeatedly visited the victim’s home in late December, days before the attack.
The ex-lover was enraged that their relationship had ended and that she had started socialising again. Detective Sgt Hannah Rudd said: “Nantu approached the victim from behind while she was on her mobile phone. His attack was vicious and relentless. He couldn’t accept the relationship was over.”
Justice Served, But Trauma Remains
Nantu was sentenced to 10 years for grievous bodily harm and two years for harassment, to be served concurrently. Detective Sgt Rudd added: “Instead of a peaceful New Year’s Day, the victim was hospitalised with serious injuries. We hope this sentence offers her some closure after a traumatic ordeal.”
