The driver of the car has been taken to St George’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers are currently at the scene investigating the exact circumstances of the collision. The road is closed in both directions on that section of the A30 and will be for some time as their investigations continue through the morning. Officers keen to speak to any motorists who were driving along that stretch of road in either direction at the time of the collision or shortly before as you may have information or dash cam footage that could help us. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 92, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
