Sixty Firefighters Battle Blaze in Heart of London
Chaos hit central London this afternoon as 60 firefighters tackled a fierce fire in a Mayfair restaurant. The blaze broke out on Albemarle Street, sparking major road closures and a thick plume of smoke over the area.
Roads Shut as Fire Rages
Police quickly shut down Albermarle Street, Stafford Street, Old Bond Street, and Dover Street to control the scene. Fortunately, all occupants are safe with no one trapped inside the blazing building.
Firefighters Fight Tough Battle
A London Fire Brigade spokesman revealed: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a restaurant on Albemarle Street in Mayfair. Half of the ground floor kitchen and ducting up to the roof are alight.”
The Brigade was alerted at 16:08, with crews rushing in from Soho, Lambeth, Kensington, Euston, Paddington, Chelsea, and Dowgate fire stations.
