A Whitstable man has been charged following a bungled attempt to rob a local post office. Callum Stewart, 29, of Lucerne Drive, was arrested after Kent Police launched an investigation into the April 7 heist bid.

Stewart wasn’t just charged with trying to nick cash and tobacco from the Joy Lane business. He also faces charges for carrying a knife in public—a serious offence that landed him in hot water straight away.

Remanded in Custody, Next Court Date Set

Appearing via virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court the day after his arrest, Stewart was remanded in custody. His case is due to return to court on May 7 at Canterbury Crown Court.
