Blazing Heat Hits Firefighters Tackling Ringwood Forest Inferno
More than 100 firefighters from Hampshire and Dorset are battling a savage blaze in Ringwood Forest, Verwood. Over 15 fire vehicles have been scrambled to the scene as flames rage and spread through the tough woodland.
Heatstroke Hits As Temperatures Soar
The searing heat has taken its toll on the brave crews, with several suffering from heatstroke and heat exhaustion. South Central Ambulance Service is on hand, treating firefighters overcome by the sweltering conditions.
“The pressure on crews has been immense,” said a firefighter from Wiltshire and Dorset Fire & Rescue. “Not just because of the fierce heat, but also the difficult forest terrain.”
Massive Operation to Keep Firefighters Hydrated and Safe
- Crews pump a staggering 7,500 litres of water per minute using high volume delivery hoses.
- Water jets cool hydraulic hoses to prevent overheating.
- Teams rotate across counties to cover other stations as the operation continues round the clock.
Firefighters remain at the scene, battling the blaze and dampening hotspots. They face extreme conditions but show no sign of backing down.
