Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Westcliff Attack
A 37-year-old man has been charged with murder following a deadly incident in Westcliff. The victim, also 37, was found with serious head injuries on Fleetwood Avenue at around 1.05pm on Tuesday, 22 September.
Victim Dies After Being Found Injured
The injured man was rushed to hospital but tragically died over the weekend. Police swiftly arrested a suspect the following day. The accused appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court and now faces a murder charge.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Jennings, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, is pleading for witnesses. He said:
“If you walked through that area, drove past, or parked your car near the library and bus stop on London Road between 5am and 1.30pm, please contact us. We especially want to speak to a man in his 70s sitting outside the library or anyone who used the walkway between Ronald Park Avenue and Fleetwood Avenue.”
Meanwhile, another man remains on bail until 20 October in connection with the investigation.
