Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted murder in Oxford.

The incident occurred yesterday (11/10) at about 10.45pm in Hawksmoor Road.

Officers were called to a property following reports that a 54-year-old man had been stabbed a number of times.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains at this time.

A man, aged 59, from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector James Mather, of Oxford CID, said: “This incident has resulted in a man being stabbed a number of times, and he has been taken to hospital for treatment.

“I understand that people may be concerned to hear this news, but I would like to reassure them that we believe this is an isolated incident. We have made an arrest and we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this.
