Pub Horror: Man Blinds Victim in Brutal Hockey Stick Attack
A violent attack at a Ramsbury pub has left one victim permanently blind in one eye. William Jeffcoat, 30, from Aldbourne, has been slammed with an 11-and-a-half-year prison sentence for the savage assault.

Last November, Jeffcoat struck two men outside The Bell pub in Ramsbury, swinging a hockey stick with brutal force. One victim was hit on the head, the other repeatedly around the face. The devastating injuries include permanent blindness in one eye for one victim and a deep 4.5cm scar across the other’s forehead.
Justice Served: Jeffcoat Sentenced to 11.5 Years
Jeffcoat pleaded guilty to two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent. At Swindon Crown Court on 3 November, he was sentenced to 11 years and 6 months – serving 7 years and 8 months behind bars, followed by time on licence.
Police Speak Out on Shocking Attack
“This was a violent and unprovoked assault. The victims were hit repeatedly with full force,” said Detective Constable Clare Sylvester-Wyness from Swindon CID. “One has lost sight in one eye; the other bears a lasting scar. We hope this sentencing brings some closure to the victims and helps them move past this horrific incident.”
