Scottish Ferry Quarantined After Crew Covid Cases
Across the UK, a Scottish CalMac ferry has been pulled out of service for a thorough deep clean after three crew members tested positive for Covid-19.
The MV Isle of Lewis was hurriedly returned from Barra to Oban once the positive tests came in. Passengers were not on board during the voyage.
CalMac bosses confirmed a relief crew will step in to operate the ferry once it’s been fully sterilised and cleared to sail again.
“Three crew members from the Isle of Lewis have received positive tests for Covid-19,” said Robert Morrison, CalMac’s operations director.
“The vessel was returned from Barra to Oban without passengers and will undergo a deep clean by a specialist company.”
“A relief crew is being brought in to operate the vessel once it returns safely to service.”
“CalMac crew work in strict bubbles to protect passengers and colleagues but anyone concerned about potential symptoms should check the NHS Inform website.”
