Port Prepares for Post-Brexit Chaos
Caroline has already reached out to Portsmouth International Port to back their bid for cash from the £200 million Port Infrastructure Fund. The aim? To beef up customs handling, traffic management, and port facilities ahead of the Brexit deadline.
Port officials aren’t leaving it to chance. They’ve teamed up with the Local Resilience Forum on a contingency plan and are rolling out the final phase of Operation Transmission to keep traffic moving and avoid gridlock on local roads.
No Deal or Deal – Businesses Must Act
Negotiations with the EU are ongoing, but regardless of the outcome, businesses across Gosport, Hill Head, Stubbington, and Lee-on-the-Solent face changes from January 1st.
“While the government continues to work around the clock to secure a trade deal with the EU, no matter the outcome, businesses in the Gosport Constituency need to check that they are ready for when we leave the Customs Union and Single Market,” Caroline warned.
“To ensure that we can continue exporting, trading and selling after December 31st, I urge all local businesses to check what they need to do, make the necessary changes and get going.”
