Predator Caught at Train Station Trying to Meet 13-Year-Old for Sex

Worcester Park Man Snared by Police Sting

Millan Rajasooriar, 34, from Hampton Road, Worcester Park, was sentenced to 30 months behind bars at Guildford Crown Court today. He had already pleaded guilty to attempting sexual communication with a child and arranging a child sex offence.

On 28 October 2019, Rajasooriar travelled to Ashtead Train Station in Surrey, expecting to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex. Instead, officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) were waiting to arrest him.

Shocking WhatsApp Messages Led to Arrest

The arrest came after a targeted, intelligence-led investigation in October 2019. Rajasooriar sent a series of explicit messages via WhatsApp, believing he was communicating with a 13-year-old child. He arranged the meeting to carry out his vile intentions.

Thankfully, his ‘victim’ was a decoy, and no children were harmed.

Dark Discoveries and Tough Punishment

After the arrest, detectives found an indecent image of a child on Rajasooriar’s phone. He has now been placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. Additionally, he will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the length of his registration period.

Police Warning and Support for Victims

Detective Inspector Phil Attwood of SEROCU said: “Rajasooriar thought he would be meeting a child who was only 13 years old to engage in sex with him, but was arrested and pleaded guilty to overwhelming evidence against him.

“He now faces prison time and indefinite monitoring on the Sex Offenders Register alongside a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

“This was a successful proactive operation by SEROCU, part of our ongoing mission to protect children from sexual exploitation.”

“If anyone has been a victim of child sexual abuse, I urge you to report it to your local police via 101. We take all allegations seriously, no matter when they happened, and victims can speak confidentially with experienced investigators and access support services.”
