“Goodnight, God Bless” – Killer’s Chilling Last Words as Dad is Beaten to Death

“Goodnight, God bless.” These were the haunting final words from a brutal killer after a savage attack that left Sean Mason dead. The 55-year-old dad from Houghton Le Spring was viciously assaulted and callously dumped in a wheelie bin outside flats on Avondale Avenue this May.

Hours later, Sean’s own son found his battered body and desperately flagged down police. But despite frantic attempts to save him, Sean died from horrific injuries inflicted in a merciless attack by Wayne Froud and Steven Milroy inside and near Milroy’s flat.

Shocking Video Shows Victim Bloodied and Defenceless

At Newcastle Crown Court, the two men denied murder, blaming Sean for ‘taxing’ their belongings. However, chilling footage from Milroy’s phone exposed their brutality. The video shows Sean, bloodied and barely able to speak, on his knees as Froud delivers the fatal blow.

“Goodnight, God bless. That’s all I’ve got to say to you, boy. Goodbye,”

Froud’s cold voice echoes as he struck Sean down. Both men refused to admit their roles in the savage assault throughout the two-week trial.

Jury Convicts Killer and Accomplice

Yesterday, the jury found Froud, 36, guilty of murder. Milroy, 47, was convicted of manslaughter. Both men will be sentenced on December 22.

Sean’s family said: “We have been robbed of a loving dad and grandad. Nothing can ease our pain but we’re glad the jury saw through the blatant lies of the defendants. We hope they serve a long time behind bars.”

Police Condemn the ‘Brazenly Violent’ Attackers

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Sharon Chatterton said: “There’s no outcome that will heal this loss. But today is a step towards the closure Sean’s family deserves.”

She added: “Froud and Milroy are remorseless violent men who left Sean to die where his own child found him. Serious violence has no place in our communities.”

DCI Chatterton also thanked officers and the Crown Prosecution Service for their work in bringing the killers to justice.
