Grandma Robbed After COVID Jab in Whitefield

A woman in her 70s was targeted and robbed just after getting her COVID-19 vaccine in Whitefield. The victim returned to her home on Rectory Green on Sunday 28 March at 8:55am when a man snatched her mobile phone and bank card. Thankfully, she wasn’t hurt but was left shaken by the ordeal.

Police Chase Ends in Head Injury

Shortly after, officers spotted a man believed to be the thief on Bury New Road. A dramatic chase followed. The suspect resisted arrest, forcing police to use a Taser and baton. During the scuffle, the man suffered a head wound but managed to flee the scene. His current whereabouts remain unknown.

Suspect Possibly Hiding Rough Sleeping

Investigators revealed the suspect has claimed his head injury came from a domestic incident, though no proof of medical treatment has been found. They believe he may be sleeping rough and was last seen resting atop scaffolding. Police have also released an image of another man spotted near the Metrolink at Prestwich on the robbery day, urging anyone who knows him to come forward.

Police Plea: Help Find the Robbery Suspect

“Our investigation into this robbery is ongoing. We are expanding our search as new information comes in,” said Detective Constable Donna Haldane from GMP Bury’s CID. “We are concerned about the welfare of another man linked to this case and want to speak to him. If anyone has information, please get in touch.”
