£575 Cigarette Heist Sparks Police Hunt in Nottingham
Detectives are on the lookout after two cheeky cigarette thefts just 20 minutes apart ruffled feathers in Nottingham.
Quickfire Theft in Wollaton
Around 3.50pm on Wednesday 5 May, crooks swiped a whopping £575 worth of cigarettes from a shop on Bramcote Lane, Wollaton. Police believe one man distracted the security guard while two others made off with the haul.
Second Swipe in Beeston
Just 20 minutes later, a man strolled into a shop on Queens Road, Beeston. He asked for spirits and tobacco behind the counter – then walked off without paying.

Detective Sergeant Chris Berryman said, "We believe these two incidents are linked and are making good headway with our enquiries. We absolutely won’t tolerate these distraction theft offences and will do everything in our power to track down these offenders."
He added, "We are after two men. One wore a black cap, black hoodie, and grey tracksuit bottoms. The other had short, dark hair, wore a black polo shirt, black skinny jeans and white shoes."
