Rogue Robber Locked Up for Two and a Half Years
A no fixed abode thief has been sentenced to 30 months behind bars for a spree of robberies in Test Valley. Tomas David Lloyd, 29, copped to two clutch heists at Southampton Crown Court yesterday (24 May), after admitting his guilt on 16 April.
Spree of Robberies Hits Andover and Romsey
Lloyd kicked off his crime spree on 15 March 2021, robbing a shop at 1 Weyhill Road, Andover, making off with around £30 from the till.
The very next day, he struck again at the Co-Op on Botley Road, Romsey. Trying to grab cash from the till, Lloyd was stopped when a quick-thinking staff member grabbed his arm. Other staff jumped in, pinned him down, and held him until cops showed up.
Judge Takes More Crimes into Account
Police revealed Lloyd was linked to four more robberies and two burglaries. The judge considered these offences before delivering the sentence.
Police Praise Community Effort
“This is a good result for the community,” said Detective Sergeant Chris Whittington. “I hope this brings some closure to those affected by his offending, and reassures the public that we are committed to tackling those who cause the most harm to our communities and bring them to justice.”
