Blaze Rips Through Southall Building: Roof and First Floor Severely Damaged
A fierce fire tore through a building in Southall, damaging most of the roof, half of the first floor, and parts of the ground floor. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
Firefighters Battle Roof-Top Inferno
Station Commander Sami Goldbrom, who led the operation, revealed the scale of the blaze. “Firefighters tackled a significant fire which took hold of the roof of the building. Multiple breathing apparatus crews worked hard inside to bring the blaze under control. A turntable ladder was used for observation,” he said.
Damage Control and Safety Measures
Firefighters also focused on salvaging valuable items untouched by the flames. The building includes residential accommodation at the rear, but, at this stage, no residents have been reported as affected.
Traffic Chaos in Busy Southall
With the fire erupting in one of Southall’s busiest areas, heavy traffic remains. “Crews will be on scene throughout the evening, so we advise motorists to avoid the area where possible,” warned Commander Goldbrom.
Firefighters Remain Vigilant
The Brigade was called just after midday and had the fire under control by 4.32pm. Crews from Southall, Hayes, Hillingdon, and Heston fire stations continue damping down into the evening. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
