Tragedy at Swanwick Lakes: Toddler Greyson Dies After Being Pulled from Water
Emergency services rushed to Swanwick Lakes reserve at 8:21pm on Sunday, 30 May after two-year-old Greyson Birch was found in the water. Firefighters and paramedics managed to pull him out, but despite being rushed to Southampton General Hospital, Greyson sadly passed away on Thursday, 3 June.
Greyson Spotted Earlier at Lakeside Country Park
Police investigations reveal Greyson was seen earlier the same day at Lakeside Country Park in Eastleigh between 6:45pm and 7:15pm. Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who saw him or who he was with during that time.
Greyson was wearing a blue striped top, dark shorts, and white trainers. He may have been with a small push-along bike.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Inspector Matt Gillooly said: “We are piecing together Greyson’s final hours and want to hear from anyone who saw him at Lakeside Country Park that afternoon. No detail is too small – anything you remember could be vital to our investigation.”
Police also released photos of Greyson in the clothing he wore that day, urging anyone who recognises him to come forward immediately.
Ongoing Investigation and Bail Update
- An 18-year-old Southampton man, previously arrested on suspicion of neglect, remains on bail until 30 August.
