American Paedophile Jailed for Horrific Child Abuse in Chichester
Keats Harvey, 24, an American living in West Wittering, has been jailed for 12 years and six months for grooming and sexually assaulting four children — including a toddler. Caught by the National Crime Agency (NCA) in May 2020, Harvey faced 14 charges linked to child sexual abuse.
Disturbing Cache of Abuse Images Found
Authorities uncovered nearly 9,000 indecent images spanning five years on Harvey’s devices. Among them were 860 of the most severe Category A images, plus thousands of Category B and C pictures. He also possessed 630 prohibited images.
Chat logs revealed Harvey was swapping these vile images with like-minded offenders. He admitted to molesting three young children. Four victims under the age of ten were identified and safeguarded.
Calculated Abuser Targeted Children Through Adults
Harvey exploited adults he knew to access victims, even abusing one child at a party. He stalked vulnerable adults with kids and applied for jobs at hospitals and nurseries — places where he could get close to children.
Offender Ring Dismantled Across Continents
Investigators also linked another American teacher to the abuse of an 11-year-old boy in Seattle after sharing intelligence internationally. The teacher was arrested and the child protected.
NCA Praises Team Effort in Securing Justice
“Keats Harvey’s crimes were escalating in severity, both online and physically,” said Peter Stevens, NCA’s T/Regional Head of Investigations.
“Thanks to tireless work during the pandemic, reviewing horrific evidence, and close cooperation with Sussex and Hampshire Police, we’ve ensured this dangerous offender is behind bars — no longer a threat to children.”
