Baby Star Hobson Dies After Horrific Abuse
Star Hobson was just 16 months old when she suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital on 22 September 2020. Tragically, she died the same day. Her mother, Frankie Smith, and Smith’s partner, Savannah Brockhill, were quickly arrested.
Shock Findings After Post-Mortem
A detailed post-mortem revealed the full horror of Star’s injuries. She had severe damage to her internal organs and a fractured skull. Both women were charged in September last year but pleaded not guilty.
Guilty Verdicts at Bradford Crown Court
After an eight-week trial at Bradford Crown Court, the jury delivered a damning verdict. Savannah Brockhill was found guilty of Star’s murder. Frankie Smith was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child. Sentencing is set for next month.
Police Speak Out on Tragic Case
Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Swift said: “This was one of the most distressing and heart-breaking cases our team has seen. Star was a young baby who had her whole life ahead of her and she tragically died at the hands of those who were meant to protect and care for her.”
“Star suffered catastrophic injuries and, despite medical intervention, could not be saved. The trial has been harrowing for Star’s family to endure. I welcome the jury’s verdicts. Their actions were absolutely barbaric against a defenceless young baby, whose life was cruelly cut short.”
