Speed Demon Jailed for Life-Shattering Crash and Fraud

Rizwan Waheed Chaudhry, 21, from Southall, was locked up for two years after a shocking high-speed smash that left an 18-year-old with life-changing injuries. The Isleworth Crown Court handed him a concurrent two-month sentence for fraud by false representation on 22 December.

Reckless Driving and Fraud

Chaudhry was caught driving at least 83mph — likely close to 100mph — on the A312 The Parkway in Hayes on 18 May 2019. Despite passengers begging him to slow down, he sped recklessly, clipped the central reservation, and crashed into a roundabout. The impact hurled his car 50 metres through the air before smashing into another vehicle.

Rather than helping, Chaudhry was seen desperately trying to dispose of silver nitrous oxide capsules from inside his car. A heroic off-duty cop rushed to the scene to give first aid. When confronted, Chaudhry even begged him not to call the police, then shamelessly took out fake insurance on a mobile app.

Judge Condemns Speed Junkie

“Chaudhry’s driving that night was beyond reckless… He has left a young man with life-changing injuries,”

said Detective Constable Liam Kerrigan from the Roads and Transport Policing Command.

HHJ Johnson slammed Chaudhry for ignoring passenger pleas and ruining a young man’s hope and optimism with his dangerous behaviour. The victim, cut free from the mangled wreck by firefighters, spent months battling spinal injuries in hospital.

Driving Ban and Retest

Besides his jail term, Chaudhry faces a two-year driving ban once released, with a mandatory extended driving retest to earn a new licence. He had already pleaded guilty back in September to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and fraud.

Chaudhry was also fined £120 and handed six penalty points for driving uninsured — a crime tied to his fraud by false representation conviction.
